Yunzhuo Gan is a Chinese Dulcimer performer and a composer. Yunzhuo graduated in Shanghai Conservatory of Music in Composition major. She is studying her second Master of Music in Composition at Manhattan School of Music. Yunzhuo currently studies with Marjorie Merryman.As a performer, she has performed throughout the world. Notably, she twice played for the former president of China at the Shanghai World Expo and Paralympic Games, and performed at the Cannes International Film Festival and Prague Spring Music Festival.
As composer, she wrote the music and songs for the Chinese film “The Continuation of Love” which wins both “Second batch of key recommended film” and “5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial Tribute film” prize. She composed a piece for the 2014 Shanghai New Year’s Concert. She have commission by Pudong percussion group every year. She hold a concert which was called “The Charm” in Carnegie Hall as a major composer and Dulcimer performer. She was a resident composer in Shanghai Pudong Percussion group. Now she is a Resident Composer in Chinese Music Ensemble of New York. Her works was presented in Merkin Hall, The New Jersey performing Arts Center and Brooklyn center. She is a youngest composer with Richard Danielpour, Marjorie Merryman and Paolo Marchettini. in Robert Sirota’s Bridging the Gap 1 at National Sawdust. Yunzhuo has won prizes from the EACA International Composition Competition and the TMSK Lithuania National Composition Competition and “Confucius” National Composition Competition.
